It’s time she takes her place. Our local version of the international 16 days of activism against gender-based violence for 2022 is focusing on raising awareness about the exclusion of women and youth from local authorities.
Kayan is back with our local version of the international 16 Days Campaign of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. In conjunction with a coalition of Arab human rights and feminist organizations, this year’s campaign focuses on the exclusion of women and youth from local authorities with the slogan, “It’s time she takes her place”. We are focusing on raising awareness about the exclusion of women and youth from local authorities. We will be conducting over 20 awareness workshops and rallies in Arab localities over the course of 16 days, starting on the 25th of November. Our campaign aims to shed light on the factors leading to a decline in women's and youth’s participation in local politics. Our goal is to outline the complex social and political context that leads to women and youth being excluded from local authorities. This context contains patriarchy, sectarianism, violence, and discriminatory politics towards the Arab minority in Israel. As a result of the increase in violence and organized crime within the Arab society that controls our localities, this situation became even more difficult. Our collective action rejects societal violence by excluding women from local politics.
We invite everyone to view the program of events and participate to ensure that we are successful in raising awareness and interest around this topic.
